Sólás Watches is an Irish microbrand, run by Diyu Daniel Wu, who assembles all of their watches himself in Ireland. Solas also source their salmon skin straps sustainably as a by-product of the fishing industry, and uses a local strapmaker in Ireland for all their Horween leather and salmon leather straps.
Solas Watches first release, the Sólás Starlight, in addition to having a gorgeous aventurine dial which can sparkle like the stars in a clear night sky, was the first microbrand watch to offer an affordable micro-rotor. Diyu has very ambitious future plans for the brand, and aims to eventually produce a minute repeater. He is extremely passionate about horology and that shows in the quality of his work, with any watches performing outside of a reasonable range being carefully regulated, and all watches subject to in-house water resistance testing.
