We love that RZE hasn't cut corners with the dive watch functionality, as can so often happen with GMTs. Here we still get 200 meters (660 feet) of water resistance, double that of many other dive watches, aided by the use of a VITON® gasket, strong grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova lume in two colors that allow for practical underwater use in darker conditions, and a 120 click unidirectional bezel that can still safely be used to measure dive times, unlike bidirectional bezels more commonly seen on GMTs.
From a GMT perspective, the 24 hour markings on the rotatable bezel allow a third time zone to be tracked, once one is familiar with the GMT hand positions, and the choice of an office/caller's GMT gives us the added convenience of a quick-set date.
Of course the limited edition RZE Ascentus GMT Medallion Yellow has all of the features we've come to expect from RZE, including a grade 2 titanium case and bracelet treated with their legendary UltraHex™ 1200 Vickers scratch resistant coating and scratch resistant sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective treatment, which also help make this timepiece a perfect dive watch companion.
We love the stylish good looks and the deliberate choice of straight edges and angles that make this a modern design statement, which is even carried through on the bracelet, and is a refreshing change from typically curvature we tend to see in most timepieces. The bold bumblebee yellow and black scheme with a subtly textured dial seems ideal for such a modern looking timepiece, and helps give this watch a very harmonious look. Little wonder then that the RZE Ascentus GMT is sold out elsewhere, and the watches we're listing here may well be a last opportunity to pick one up.
